Twisted Princesses
"Plagued" is my final project for the RC drawing 288 class. My drawings are themed around the Flint water crisis. I drew inspiration from the Disney princess characters and added some twist to them, creating 9 pieces of drawings to satirize the government and the whole incident. The final product is an artist book with both the illustrations and poems. The design of the artist book is simple and elegant. I like the comparison between how complex the drawings are and how plain the book cover is.
Light as a feather,
tainted with dirt.
Shedding skins,
forgoing Past.
Guess I could finally
fit in the Shoe now.
Half-human,
that is more human
than most men,
rest, an animal.
Bastard in nature.
Purest in the world.
A drowning mermaid
Bring in the snow.
Bring a Winter along.
Bring here the closest rock,
the frozen stone,
could not stop the water
flow.
You may kiss the Bride now.
Swallow the flesh.
Scratch her bone.
Till death
Do us cleansed.
Pure as a baby,
free as a star.
Tangled, tangled,
little flood.
Soul on a thread.
Past in the air.
Puff Puff,
all gone, all bare,
put down your hair,
into the Lethe.
Naked,
with a heart shield
Against
the world of entity
Yet not enough to guard
the petals
of her dying blood
